Film/ TV Review: American Made

American Made, starring Tom Cruise is an enjoyable, lighthearted movie, following Barry Seal (Cruise), a pilot, turned covert CIA operative during the 80's. An interesting snapshot of the era including a burgeoning drug cartel and the communist uprising in South/ Central America. Seal, inevitably gets caught up in the whirlwind of adventure and free flowing cash. The film skips on violence and focuses on character. Aeronautical fans will love the action shots and homage to vintage aircraft. American Made is entertaining and an easy watch 7/10

Local Art - Blue Mountain Pottery

Blue Mountain Pottery was a local company, now closed, but the works are very well known throughout Canada. The celebrated design features a familiar glaze, using light and dark colours, most famously green but also in reds, browns and yellow hues. Local Adventures: Carly Patterson Trail

Carly Patterson trail is an approximately 11 km loop that meanders throughout the west end of Wasaga Beach. Never straying too far into the wilderness, this trail is perfect for almost all walking/ hiking abilities. There are countless entry points along the trail and it's very well maintained after storm damage. The deep snow we are currently experiencing makes it harder with the double stroller, but with snow shoes, you could enjoy a delightful hike through the woods. Art feature - Wood Cut Print

Wood print printing is a 'relief' printing technique whereby you continue to carve away at an image, in the meantime, printing different colours on top of each other (after each layer dries) using this wooden block. This print is one I worked on during art school, my only dalliance into wood block printing. It is my favorite print making disciple and I love this print. Currency one left in store!
